What if you added a supplement such as Yohimbine HCL to the mix and took it with your fasted cardio?

Hi, interesting article. You say there is no science to backup fasted cardio, but Mike Matthews cites science studies in his argument for fasted cardio (yes, I know he now sells a supplement for fasted cardio, but his position existed prior and it doesn’t negate his sources anyway). What are your thoughts on those?

Hi! Do you think that fasted cardio could help super lean individuals to get rid of stubborn fat? In this scenario even small fat loss would help. I’m asking this because some studies indicate that alpha 2 adrenoceptors of subcutaneous fat could be inhibited by fasting or low carb diets.
Thank you very much for all the information!!!

I’d like to see the results of doing fasted cardio and still not eating for 12 hours following the cardio.

Why do you only quote 24 hour data?
Do you think people would gain or lose the same amount of weight if all food was consumed in 1 meal vs spread out over 3 meals and/or snacks?

Jason Wittrock’s N=1 overfeeding study definitely would question the validity that a hormonal response to energy was at play vs a physics experiment. Great 21 day exhibition that eating lots of fat a bit of protein and very carbs in a 2500 kcal surplus can cause weight loss!

Are the results the same for ketogenic dieters? In other words, if I’m in a sustained ketogenic state and do fasted cardio isn’t fat the preferred energy source– provided I’m doing fasted low intensity steady state cardio only?

This is exactly what I have been talking about. Thanks for the thorough article on Fasted Cardio. Will be linking this to everyone who believes it has some magical powers.

Great recap James. Love how you put it (energy expenditure, appetite suppressant effect, repartitioning). Will send it out in our weekly bodybuilding science review (going out Saturday). It’s at http://newsletter.drmuscleapp.com/ (feel free to edit out the link). Cheers!
